A lifestyle blog - Its a jumble from my world a bit of everything - loves, likes, lists.

Last night I was spoilt by the boyf with a awesome surprise! I am a huge fan of surprises so this was really a treat. We arrived at Kirstenbosch Gardens and attended the
 the galileo open air cinema!

( this is the only pic I managed to get because I was beside myself with excitement and running around buying sweets).

I am so impressed by the organisation of the event and how well presented it was. Different tickets include various packages, ours was two comfy, warm blankets and the viewing of an epic movie. You could also hire ground chairs (by ACT 2 popcorn) as well as blankets. They had microwaves with various yummy popcorns available and amazing food vendors selling mouth watering delights (like seafood paella!). The weather was a bit chilly, but we were prepared with our lovely blankets and warm clothes. Most people had bought their own blankets, food, snacks and wine and arrived early so they could mingle and enjoy the setting.

The movie was Forest Gump, first time I have ever seen it! The best part was when the beautiful full moon came out and shone over the stunning location! Really a fantastic event, well organised, great facilities and loads on offer to keep you cosy and satisfy your taste buds!

The  event will be running weekly (usually on Wednesdays) and will screen a variety of films from foreign to documentaries  adventure sports and all time classics. For more information check out their site and book yourself a seat for the next event! Super romantic night! Also great to gather all your friends and share a night under the stars in the most amazing location!

Ps: Thank you boyf :)

This year has taught me a lot. The past couple of years have been difficult for me as I have struggled with a back injury that has hindered my ability to exercise and also ended my dance career. But! A lot of good has come from this and many lessons have been learnt. I am not the most patient of people. It has not been easy for me. Luckily I have truly supportive people in my life who believe in me, along with a fantastic physiotherapist who has helped me on my journey.

This year I started doing yoga classes at the Point Virgin Active. After years of fearing exercising and battling my way through sports injury rehab and finding myself frustrated and demotivated, I finally found something that challenges me, keeps me fit and helps my mind and spirit. There are still a lot of exercises I can't do, but I work with what I can do and work to respect my body, not push and not over do.

I only manage to make one class a week, but I still go to gym and do my own practice as often as I can, I have to listen to my body now and if it hurts I need to be aware and respect that. The people in my class are all so lovely and the instructors understanding, I don't feel pressurised to be amazing I feel content to work at my own pace.  Some days I struggle, other days I strive. Yoga is something I truly believe has helped my body start healing. Although it is not a cure, it is my little bit of peace of mind and my chance to do a little more, step by step in order to regain my fitness and feel stronger. I have decided to start doing Yoga Monday posts, to share and inspire you all to get involved. If you cant go to gym or afford classes, there are some amazing online videos that are very helpful! NAMASTE :)

Last night we attending the awesome premier of Jordy Smith's surf film BENDING COLOURS hosted at the Grand in association with Red Bull. The event was awesome with a fantastic vibe and beautiful setting! The boyf is a devoted and avid surfer, I myself don't surf,  but I still have a deep appreciation for the ocean and the sport. I respect people who have such an awesome skill and who find passion and life within their dedication and determination to surf and travel. Very inspirational!!!!!

Everyone needs to watch the film (below is the trailer) If you are a South African you will truly appreciate the incredible scenery and they amazing cinematography  that really puts our beautiful country on the map. Not forgetting the insane surfing that goes down! OH MY HAT!

(Drinking delicious Red Bull and Sky Vodka, amazing blueberry flavour on the left)

(Thank you to The Little Black Book for organising)

Life has been pretty hectic lately, weeks roll into months and weekends seem to fly by with little time to stop. After writing a rather horrible exam on Friday and after an insane couple of weeks it was really nice to finally chill out.

I cant remember when last I had a lazy evening or just a chance to relax. So we decided to chuck  a delicious Ristorante pizza's in the oven for dinner! (these babies are the real deal) along with a home made salad. Nothing like a chilled supper and some Coldplay in the back round :) We then proceeded to veg even more by watching the Lord of the Rings Trilogy!

DIY DEMIN SHORTS

I am currently on a bit of a mission to try make use of all the clothing in my cupboard, mainly due to lack of finances for a whole new wardrobe. So I decided to attempt some DIY. I really like this pair of jeans as they sit nice and high around the waist but I found the calf part to not fit very well so I decided to make them into shorts (not sure if I am brave enough to wear them out and about, maybe with  black stockings underneath, I am not a massive fan of showing too much skin)

I found a great "How To" video on refinery29 (see link for instructions)

All you need:
Ruler
Chalk
Pins
Cotton
scissors
and another pair of shorts to measure against the pair you want to make :)

Originally I am from JHB. A lot of very special people in my life are in JHB. On Friday I had the pleasure of seeing my dad when he arrived in Cape Town on Friday for business. Really awesome seeing him and we had such a fun afternoon it made me really miss him! I also miss my gran a lot. She truly is a special women who can feed you to a point of happiness and beyond and make you feel every inch the grandchild that's loved and adored. Another special member in my family is my little cousin Alexander. I miss him terribly because he is such a sweet, innocent, well behaved, caring child. I came across this picture the other day and it made think how precious family is. I know my family isn't that far away but I still miss them terribly and wish I could see them more.

If you happen to live close by to your family make sure you see them and that they know how much you love them. If they live faraway, make a call, write a message, stay in touch and apart of their lives :)
