French Style Confectioner, 'Ma Mere Maison'.
Based in buzzing Salt River, this beautiful,
quirky little confectioner boasts an amazing assortment of hand-crafted treats,
all made on site where visitors are encouraged and often rewarded with tastes
of the girls' latest experimental delicacy!
Their signature Salted Macadamia Nougat, has
already gained cult status around Cape Town, as have their Elegant Red Velvet
Cake Pops. Other goodies in their repertoire worth salivating over, include
Olive Oil and Roasted Almond Nougat; glorious Honey and Vanilla Bean
Marshmallows coated in Roasted Coconut; Soft White Chocolate and Stem Ginger
Fudge and their sought-after speciality, genuine Parisian Macaroons - more than
enough to challenge Cape Town's pre-summer calorie-reduction crowd!
Owned and run by Lexi Bechet and Partner Di
Spicer; 'Ma Mere Maison', (For the non-French linguists, "My Mother's
Kitchen"), positively glows with Lexi's love for confectionery and her
enthusiasm to delight her followers with unusual and exotic flavours.
Ma Mere Maison's exquisitely hand-crafted
products are not just limited to the shop. Increasingly they may be found at a
variety of wine-farms and deli's.
On Saturday mornings you will find Lexi and Di either at the Neighbourgoods Market (The Old Biscuit Mill) or in their shop carefully constructing one of their Macaroon towers for an elegant Cape Town wedding.
