Name of your brand?

eb + am

What inspired the name?

ebb and flow - a recurrent or rhythmical pattern of coming and going or decline or regrowth.
am - a form of the present tense e b + a m - a combination of the words above mentioned where one can see it in similarity of fashion itself as a pendulum swing, where inspiration is taken from the past and future to reach a present stateof the zeitgeist.

Describe your clothing?

e b + a m is a ready-to-wear south African label based in the kzn midlands. compiled of a womenswear range constructed in a classic manor, in which light-weight and delicate fabrication create clean, casual and easy fitted items, with a nostalgic yet serene feel. using subtle colours, textures and patterns garments are easy to match in any wardrobe making most pieces valuable key and transitional items.

Who are your greatest influences in fashion?

great inspiration from Copenhagen designers, such as mads norgaard,stine goya, carin wester, jil sander, henrik vibskov. as well as others like gaspard yurkievich, Yoji Yamamoto, chronicles of never... aaaaa... toooo much...

What is your favourite item of clothing that you own?

my favourite is...hmmm ...this is difficult. hmmm....probably my beautiful nautical crop red + blue jacket from h &m

nostalgic, feminine, delightful, playful and delicate

Describe a day in the life of you and your label?

wake up. eat me some muesli, bodum. coffee. lots of it.. two spoons of honey. car. drive. listen to Beirut-elephant gun.sing . sing loud. out the window. drive past pylons. lots of them. like 30. then get milk for my ladies tea. arrive. pull the curtains open. switch the power on. cut. direct. sew. make. create. produce. laugh. discuss. plan. plan again. plan one more time. source. eat. source. drink. cut. sweep. home.

What is your dream for your label?

I dream too much. i have crazy ideas, i should write them down there are too many. starting small. to stock locally in dbn, ct and jhb. then big dream own my own store. then biggest dream own a store and stock around Copenhagen.

ten years from now you will be......?

Ideally living in copenhagen finishing my masters in fashion design

hmmm... dad pants... worn in the waist. paperbag effect. in navy. tan belt. honestly . . . whats not to love?

Worst purchase of a clothing item you made?

a floral wrap dress i bought 2 yrs ago. still has the tag on it. yuck on me...sis
