A lifestyle blog - Its a jumble from my world a bit of everything - loves, likes, lists.

"The Aspire S3 is truly designed to meet notebook users' needs, combining essential features of the smartphone and tablet PC, such as fast startup and Internet connectivity, with long battery life. Matched with its slim form, the Aspire S3 will provide a fresh experience and set a major milestone in the history of Acer's notebook development,” said Celeste Gibbens, Marketing Manager for Acer Africa

Let me start out by saying I am the person that technology seems to be allergic to. So when I got the opportunity to review and use the very sleek and ultra thin ACER Aspire S3 Ultrabook I was rather surprised and over the moon! My current laptop is ancient, bulky and certain buttons don’t work, some days it doesn’t work all together!

So…receiving this beautiful piece of machinery was truly a breath of fresh air. After using it I realised it isn’t me who repels technology… It was simply the case of using an average PC that didn’t suit my needs or functionality.
The Acer was my awakening to easy, functional and fast communication with mobility.

I received a press pack with some wonderful goodies to test out what the new Ultrabook offers. An ultra fast stopwatch to check its quick connectivity – 2.5 seconds and an ultra thin measuring tape to measure the sleek beauty – 1.3cm and weighs less than 1.4kgs. Not forgetting a much-needed fast action memory stick! Bonus! It is also equipped with a full-size Acer FineTip chiclet keyboard, designed for comfortable use and maximum productivity. All-day usability is assured by a super lightweight high-density battery that delivers up to 7 hours of battery life.

It also boasts a high definition digital/video playback, a 2-1 card reader that supports SD cards and multimedia cards and an Acer Crystal Eye 1.3 mega pixel camera and microphone. I put these all to the test and they proved beyond expectation!

The best part - being able to carry the Ultrabook around with me, it made my life so much easier! Fitting perfectly into my handbag (bliss) and since it had such a great battery life I was able to take it to varsity and then, if I had to attend any meetings or work on an essay or assignment, but wasn't going to be home straight away, its functionality made it great for me to use and to keep up to date with all my work and admin while on the go.

Often I work late at night on projects and assignments or I can't always be at my desk, this means that sometimes it needs to rest on my lap or bed. (especially when I relax and watch series or need to read online). Now you know that awkward heat that rises from your laptop when you put it on your lap, bed or couch? And you fear you may catch alight? Well, that is definitely not the case with the Ultrabook.

The Aspire S3 features a vent-free bottom so the notebook rests comfortably on your lap. Warm components are smartly placed away from the palmrest and touchpad area, so you won’t feel any heat discomfort. The fan motor is optimized to enhance efficiency and lower power consumption to help increase system battery life.

For the first time I actually felt like I could use technology to its fullest and not have to lug around a heavy laptop or worry about battery life. Most of all I felt like it was an extension of me, the stylish look and feel made me feel comfortable and confident in using it. I also found I was able to be more productive and motivated with my work. My fear of technology failure was overcome very quickly!

I can highly recommend this beautiful sleek piece of machinery and suggest you get your hands on one ASAP! Easy to use, functional fast support with light weight and stylish looks................. I am sold!

Pricing and Availability: Priced from R8 999.00 and available from Dion Wired and Makro.

Part of this past weekend was spent up the West Coast. Possibly one of the most beautiful untouched stretches of coast in the Western Cape. We spent the weekend with some very special people who welcomed us into their beautiful home where we were spoilt with amazing food, kind hearts and good company. The most amazing thing about the coast or been close to the sea is the realisation of how lucky we are to be alive! So free, so close to the edge of the world, miles of white sands and rolling waves, so much earth and land out in the open. It is a blessing to be surrounded by amazing people and a such beauty. Nothing like the sea air and a little bit of sun to make you realise how lucky you are in life to have all that you do.

This is what motivates me, helps my studying and most of all excites me! I mean, hello! Its pretty colours to brighten up your dull work! Stationery is my weakness, although, I have not purchased any is a long time! (the boyf understands my obsession, so at the start of the year he bought me a whole lot) But supplies are running short and the work pile is getting higher! So pretty colour is a sure way to help :)
