Two Sundays ago I had the pleasure of styling Xamira a dutch Model residing in CT for season. This was a test for her book. We wanted to make the "beach girl look" slightly editorial but also fun and relaxed. The photographer, Joseph Ou and the amazing make up Artist Claire Hills are both friends of mine who I have been fortunate enough to work with on a few tests. Its great to work as a team and have people around you that you are comfortable with! Needless to say the weather was playing tricks and had us all blowing about. Not to mention waste and knee deep in jeans in the freezing ocean! But it was all worth it. It was great for me to experience styling beachwear and how accessories can also play apart, especially on head shots and cloth ups. I also did the models hair as a lot of her book consists of natural loose hair pics. I used commercial wear as well as a vintage lace piece and necklaces that I had made. The day was a great success and a fantastic experience!

The goal of the program is to inspire, as well as presenting a broader and more realistic definition of what it means to be a woman-something with real substance and depth. This more balanced view of the female perspective inspires younger generations and allows Element to forever flourish and adapt with each Advocate. "
For those of us in Cape Town it seems the weather is playing with our emotions! It really is the place where you can experience all seasons in one day! But alas, summer awaits! we have already had a small taste of those glorious day's one Clifton or Camps bay beach! Soaking up the unforgiving sun, layering on the not-so-strong sun factors ( try NIVEA SPF 30) listening to the conversations going on two towels down, heading for the sea complaining that its bitterly cold but in the end still getting so hot that you cant resist that icy ocean. Long summery days await with sunsets, summer dresses and friends. Somehow Cape Town comes alive! Everyone comes out of hibernation! If your not a beach person like I am, you will probably be enjoying pool days and cocktails at caprice, and yes Cape Town is the place to be! I have trips partly up the coast, long stretches of white sands, semi warm water and good company to look forward to. Maybe even a new bikini
Badger products are super-safe, super-comforting blends of fresh, whole, organic, extra-virgin oils, waxes, exotic butters, herbal extracts & pure essential oils. And nothing else! By far my favourite accessories store! Whats not to love? Bags, shoes, bikini's and Jewls! am I fan? OF COURSE! The bright hippy chic beach girl vibe is totally up my street! hello summer, hello bright colours and beautiful accessories.
AAAA The love for shoes. Its this strange obsession. A growing obsession! I found myself in Adidas the other day cradling a pair of mid plain black high tops. I stood there for a moment and let out a small reassuring whisper that at someone point I would be back to but the beauties! my friend who was with me was of course, in hysterics. Talking to shoes? that's not crazy that's devotion! :) I was lucky enough to work on my first styling job recently. Design Times gave a team of use ( Art director, photographerher, lighting man and make up artist) a chance to do a shoot for the mag. this was by far a huge deal for us all as we are all starting out in our various areas of passion and were keen to put it to the test! We shot at the amazing new YOURSTRULY DELI in Long street Cape Town on a warm sunny Sunday! The best part? The whole crew of us are all friends. We have all gathered together over months and years, some new to each other but all knowing one another. This just meant the vibe was amazing! The models looked gorgeous and the team was on fire! I was fortunate enough along with the Art director to choose the "theme". SO of course my sneaker love came in! We paired the models in high top sneakers from TRAFFIC in long street. The dresses where gorgeous, a short black number from MARI and ME in Sea point (New and super hot) and the second dress came from my friend who is a designer, Samantha Bailey, a gold statement full piece number! It felt truly awesome to see the whole team work together to produce such fantastic work and the result is mind blowing! If I manage to branch out more (and we are all hoping for a second shoot through the mag) then I would definitely like to use more young and up coming talent and there gorgeous creations. We have so much talent in this country and so much to offer the design and creative world. I got to share apart of it :)
The Little mermaid! My all time Favourite Disney! Whats not to love about this movie! lately I am inspired by it! Maybe its because its summer and I am not a fan of the lumo colours doing the rounds but for some reason I am digging red! Never had a huge thing for red but it does have some kind of rich summer, hot feel to it! Essie nail polish have bought out a cute box set of choral type colours that are fun in green, blue, purple and a great neutral shades! While Revlon are rocking the "Just bitten" range and I now a fabulous bright red lippy :) along with bright red haviannas. Yes I know slip slops are not the height of fashion, but come summer they are my freedom and these new babies are just to summer to resist :)
